Most bad lighting is a spacing problem, not a fixture problem. A ceiling covered in evenly spaced six-inch cans lights the floor and leaves the walls dark, which is why a room can be bright and still feel grim. We plan lighting in layers — ambient light for the room, task light where you actually work, accent light on the surfaces you want the eye to find — and lay it out against your furniture plan before a single hole is cut.

Specification matters as much as placement. We hold colour temperature consistent across a floor, usually 2700K in living space and 3000K in kitchens and baths, and specify a colour rendering index of 90 or better so that food, wood and skin do not look grey. Dimming is designed as part of the circuit, not added later: driver and dimmer are matched and bench-checked, because a flickering LED is almost always a compatibility problem nobody planned for.

We work from your drawings or from a walk-through of the rooms as they are. On remodels we coordinate with the drywall and cabinet schedule so the rough-in lands at the right moment, and on finished spaces we cut and patch to keep the work to a minimum. You get a fixture schedule you can order from, whether we supply the fixtures or you do.

Common questions

Can you do this without tearing up the ceiling?

In most finished rooms, yes. Remodel-rated housings and low-profile wafer lights install through a single hole, and we fish the runs through joist bays. Where the framing runs the wrong way we will show you exactly where the access cuts have to go before we start.

Why do my LEDs flicker on the dimmer?

Almost always a driver and dimmer that were never matched. Older leading-edge dimmers were built for incandescent loads and misbehave with the small loads LEDs pull. Swapping to a compatible LED-rated dimmer, sometimes with a minimum-load correction, fixes it.

Do I have to buy the fixtures from you?

No. We will give you a fixture schedule with model numbers and you can order it yourself. If you would rather we supply everything, we do, at our cost plus a stated markup shown on the estimate.
